Radiator
Radiator
As your car´s engine runs, extreme heat is generated by the internal combustion process. A solution of antifreeze and water, known as coolant, is pumped through the engine block to absorb the heat, then to the radiator for cooling. As the hot solution flows to the radiator, a portion passes through the heater core, allowing the interior of the car to be heated during cold weather.
The radiator is composed of a series of thin, copper tubes separated by aluminum fins, situated in the very front of the vehicle. As the hot solution flows through the tubes, the separation by the fins allows cool air to flow around the tubes absorbing and dispersing the heat. The cooled solution is then returned to the engine via the water pump.
Uptown Auto Service technicians are qualified to repair and replace radiators, heater cores, water pumps, and all other components of your car’s coolant system.
